Alfred will remember that.

The first trailer for Batman: The Telltale Series, the latest episodic adventure game from the developer behind The Walking Dead and Tales from the Borderlands, has arrived.

Check it out below.

Set in its own continuity, the story takes place not long after Batman begins his crusade against crime in Gotham. Based on it’s M-rating, and pretty violent imagery of the trailer, we expect this to be a more mature and moody take on the character, and perhaps similar in tone to previous Telltale games like The Wolf Among Us.

The series puts you not only in the cape and cowl of the Dark Knight, but also in the expensive shoes of Bruce Wayne, as you can approach events in the story as either persona. Also like previous Telltale games, expect point-and-click exploration gameplay, decisions that alter the story, and plenty of quicktime events.

The game series seems to have a very Gothic visual style, similar to Batman: The Animated Series, and more importantly, this looks like the prettiest Telltale entry yet, thanks to a new game engine. Let’s hope that means no jittery frame rates.

For the most part, Telltale Games deliver strong writing, solid voice acting (Troy Baker is Bruce Wayne), and lots of tough choices. Hopefully the Caped Crusader’s adventure will be all that and more.

Batman: The Telltale Series Episode 1 releases on August 2 for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, 360, PC, iOS, and Android.
