And it is more interesting than any regular multiplayer mode.

[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]elltale Games is going to be bringing a new multiplayer mode to their new Batman series. The mode is going to be called Crowd Play and will allow others to have a say in the choices that you will make in the game.

Job Stauffer, head of creative communications, revealed Crowd Play at this years San Diego Comic Con. “We wanted a better way to integrate the audience,” he said. “Now from 2 to 2,000 plus can help the player make decisions. We are now turning all of Telltale’s games into a live interactive multiplayer experience.”

Crowd Play will be an option that the player can turn on before they start the game. Once Crowd Play is activated, a URL will be activated and given to the player that can be shared with other players. The URL will allow the other players to log in and interact with the original player and vote for what decisions to make. The only way to join a player’s game is to use the URL, which is different from multiplayer modes which use server browsers.

There will two different modes for Crowd Play. One of the modes will have the vote be the final say on the decision and the other mode will allow the player to have the final say. The spectators will vote for one of four dialogue options for the player to use and the votes will be tallied and placed on screen for the player to see what the spectators want to do. Spectators will also be able to give a thumbs up or thumbs down for actions, showing their approval or disapproval of how the player is making their decisions. These modes will allow for a lot feedback between the player and spectators.

Stauffer had said that this mode would be great for streamers but as of right now latency issues were blocking the full the effect of Crowd Play for streaming. The thumbs up and thumbs down voting will still be active. He also said that as the technology progresses the issues will be resolved and streamers will be able to use the full extent of Crowd Play to interact with their fans.

Batman: The Telltale Game Series will be released August 2, 2016.
