Assassin’s Creed allegedly becoming a TV Show

Great idea after the results of the movie last winter!

[dropcap size=small]L[/dropcap]ast week, Ubisoft announced that they have been working on getting a TV show based on their award-winning game series Assassin’s Creed. Head of Content Aymar Azaizia said that the series was under way, but gave no timetable to when it would be released at a Reddit AMA.

“We will take our time to get sure we deliver something we can be proud of,” he noted during the AMA.

This is a project that Ubisoft has wanted to do for a long time, specifically since the release of Assassin’s Creed II. Ubisoft negotiated with Netflix with a potential agreement for a show, but nothing has happened between the two sides since. This doesn’t mean that Netflix has said no necessarily, just no confirmed answer from Netflix.

As far as we know, no one has agreed to help with production yet, but it’s still early. Most likely, Ubisoft’s TV and film division, Ubisoft Motion Pictures, will take the production side of the show.

The best case for an update on the show will be in a few months at Ubisoft’s pre-E3 press conference. The Assassin’s Creed movie did pretty well in theaters and received good ratings, so that might give us the best idea on if a TV show will be released. But for now, we wait.
