The Rock will finally make his way to the superhero universe!
[dropcap size=small]D[/dropcap]C Films co-head Geoff Johns met with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson about a role in a DC movie in January. But he won’t be starring as any sidekick. In fact, he will play Black Adam in his own movie! Johnson revealed this in an interview with MTV.
“We’ve had great discussions with Geoff Johns over at DC. This is a really fun, cool time for DC right now because they’re world-building,” Johnson told MTV’s Josh Horowitz. “We’re seeing that with Wonder Woman and Aquaman. We have a few surprises down the line.”
“So what we decided to do was to create a scenario where Black Adam has his stand-alone movie, and Captain Marvel, Shazam, has his stand-alone movie,” he added. “We’re building our world that way, and then we can come together at some other point.”
Johnson also teased that his character would have a big surprise. Not much was elaborated to what it was other than his enthusiastic comment that “It’s just f*cking awesome!”
Johnson’s excitement for his first superhero role is not surprising. We would all express such an emotion if we had a superhero role of our own. With movies like Wonder Woman and Justice League coming out soon, it looks like the DC Universe is slowly, but surely, coming together.
