The official offer for the role was delivered on Monday.

[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]fter meeting with many actors over the past few weeks director James Wan and Warner Bros. have finally decided on who will take on the role of the Black Manta. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, best known for his work on Baz Luhrmann’s show The Get Down which appeared on Netflix, was chosen.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will join the star-studded cast which includes Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Dr. Vulko, and Patrick Wilson as Orm. With Yahya Abdul-Mateen II taking on the role of Black Manta, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman is set to be pitted against to villains since Patrick Wilson’s Orm is Aquaman’s half-brother. Aquaman might be the most complex and ambitious DC film yet but with a cast such as this, we can hope that the film will be spectacular. Filming is to begin in Australia in April of this year.
