‘Question reality.’

[dropcap size=small]E[/dropcap]xcited about the upcoming Marvel film Doctor Strange starring Benedict Cumberbatch? So are we.

That’s why we suggest you better stop what you’re doing right now and check out this marvelously mysterious trailer the studio show-cased at San Deigo Comic Con this weekend:

Can we please just take a moment to appreciate the majestic cape flick in this trailer? Yes. Yes we can (thanks Tumblr).

Simply glorious.

Bene looks every bit the part as the surgeon-turned-sorcerer, with Stephen Strange’s signature sprinkling of grey side streaks and neat ‘stache.

Strange seeks enlightenment from the figure known as the Ancient One (played by Tilda Swinton) who appears to teach him how to harness his magical abilities. This is the first time we’ve gotten a proper glimpse of the Doctor’s magic, which seems to be suitably outlandish and mystical.

Cumberatch shed some light on the character during the Marvel panel:

“This is a fantastic arc that this character goes on. From somebody who’s seemingly in control of a world we recognise and very high in the pecking order – confident with it – then this chaotic mess of an accident happens to him. And it’s a story about him discovering that he doesn’t know anything. He’s just at the beginning of understanding what our reality’s really about and what’s beyond our reality.”

From the Inception-like, reality-bending action happening around Stephen, his adventures could have quite an impact on the MCU. Learning curves and all that, right?

The plot looks set to be appropriately peculiar to say the least, which is quite in-keeping with some of the comic story arcs surrounding the character – particularly the original 60’s story-lines which are known for their signature, well, strangeness.

Mads Mikkelson looks pretty darn menacing as the evil sorcerer known as Kaecilius, who seeks to expose the world to threats from other dimensions. With the inclusion of portals in the trailer and Kaecilius’s declaration of being all things death and pain, we know he’s going to be very bad news indeed.

We’re all the more intrigued about the upcoming film and how Doctor Strange will come into play in the MCU overall. One things for certain, it’s going to be quite the magical ride.

I’ll just finish this off with this majestic new poster folks have spotted in theatres (via gamesradar) to get you even more excited about Doctor Strange’s big screen debut:

Doctor Strange is due for release 28 October, 2016 (UK) and 4 November, 2016 (US).
