Principal photography has begun on Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter spin-off.
[dropcap size=small]F[/dropcap]antastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has started shooting at the Warner Bros. studio in Leavesden, England. The film marks J.K. Rowling’s screenwriting debut, while David Yates, who helmed the last four Harry Potter films, returns to the world of Harry Potter as director.
The film stars Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne as magizoologist Newt Scamander, who travels to New York in an effort to find and document magical creatures, and would later write the Hogwarts textbook, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Also starring are Katherine Watson, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton, Jenn Murray, Faith Wood-Blagrove and Colin Farrell.
Harry Potter producer David Heyman will produce alongside Steve Kloves, who wrote all the Harry Potter films bar The Order of the Phoenix, and the film boasts a highly decorated crew, including Oscar-winning director of photography Philippe Rousselot (Sherlock Holmes), three-time Oscar-winning production designer Stuart Craig (The English Patient), three-time Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood (Alice in Wonderland), Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Tim Burke (Gladiator) and editor Mark Day, a Harry Potter veteran and favorite of Yates’.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set for release on November 18th, 2016.
