Jason has been unleashed!
[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]ith 12,218 backers and over $800,000 raised, the Kickstarter project that will allow fans of the horror movie franchise to take on the role of Jason Voorhees, or a not-so-helpless camper, truly outstretched its original funding goal. And then some.
Seeking out $700,000 for the inital development of the game, Gun Media successfully raised an additional $100,000 on top of their goal, and you know what that means? Additional content.
Several features have been promised with the upcoming hack and slash fest, including a ‘Sleeping Bag Kill’ ability, a ‘Mirror Smash’ effect which gives Jason seven years bad luck, a ‘Head Smash’ addition that will have an eye popping animation feature, and the ‘Rip Your Heart Out’ ability that will pretty much do what it says. Sounds pretty gory doesn’t it!
Even though the funding has reached its initial objective, the Kickstarter campaign continues to be ambitious, with the final stretch goal hoping to reach the five million mark.
The other perks and features it hopes to bring to fruition along the way to that big round number are certainly plentiful, and the next addition, the ‘Many Faces of Death’, (if $875,000 is raised) is just around the corner. You can check out the other stretch goals here.
The game is due for release Halloween of next year, with the hope that it will be available October 2016. With this in mind, the game – which has been receiving a lot of attention of late – is sure to hit many of their stretch goals in the coming months.
