Mamoa is set to play the fictitious on-screen son of washed-up TV star, Will Ferrell.

[dropcap size=small]J[/dropcap]ason Mamoa will be taking a break from being the ruler of the seven seas to team up for a comedy movie with none other than Will Ferrell.

According to Variety, the untitled Paramount project will see Ferrell play a washed-up TV star, whilst Mamoa will be playing Ferrell’s old fictitious on-screen son who he reunites with.

Ferrell’s company Gary Sanchez Productions will be producing the film along with Forgetting Sarah Marshall director, Nick Stoller.

Andy Mogel and Jarrad Paul who were the names behind the TV sitcom The Grinder (starring Rob Lowe) will be penning the script.

Ferrell is well known for his comedic roles in films such as Anchorman and Stepbrothers, and he’s even played a TV star before in the lacklustre Bewitched. It’ll be interesting to see what Mamoa will bring to the table after some glimpses of comedy in his role as Ronon Dex in Stargate: Atlantis. Mamoa and Ferrell are certainly an interesting duo, and we can’t wait to see how well the pair will play off of each other whenever the film makes its way to the big screens.

The film has only just been pitched, so a release date has yet to be announced.
