The Punisher will be punishing in a variety of ways next year on Netflix.
I feel bad for The Punisher. The Marvel anti-hero has yet to successfully make the transition from comics to film. Don’t get me wrong; there are cult followings for both the 2004 film, and the 2008 flick War Zone, but both didn’t do so hot at the box office.
While Punisher movies haven’t worked out all that well, perhaps the mercenary obsessed with vengeance can succeed through a TV series, specifically, the upcoming second season of Daredevil on Netflix, where Jon Bernthal will portray him.
Bernthal, best known as Shane from The Walking Dead, has done a pretty good job at generating hype for the character’s debut through social media, and he has just recently shared a picture on his Twitter of a whole lot of guns.

As the ‘PUNISH’ caption indicates, this is no doubt a glimpse at the arsenal of weapons that Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, will be utilizing when we see him fight Daredevil.
But will he actually fight Daredevil? Perhaps, keep in mind that The Punisher isn’t afraid to brutally kill his enemies, while Matt Murdock (Daredevil) instead relies on the legal system to determine the fate of criminals.
So will the two characters be allies with very different ideologies? Possibly, or will they at each other’s throats most of the time? I think I would prefer the latter.
Regardless, after a stellar first season, Daredevil’s sophomore outing has a lot to live up to, and hopefully Bernthal will bring a memorable performance, along with all that firepower, that will put The Punisher back on the map.
Daredevil season two will release in early 2016 on Netflix.
