Colin Trevorrow could be helming another blockbuster.

[dropcap size=small]F[/dropcap]resh off the success of Jurassic World, which has now grossed over $1.4 billion worldwide, director Colin Trevorrow is rumored to be helming the third installment of the new Star Wars trilogy with Episode IX.

In a report originally from Heroic Hollywood, it was believed that Trevorrow would be announced as directing the upcoming project during the Lucasfilm panel yesterday at Comic-Con.

While lots of exciting information came out of the Lucasfilm presentation, including the name of Domhnall Gleeson’s character, General Hux, and a beautiful behind-the-scenes video (below), there were no major announcements regarding Episode IX.

Despite Trevorrow not being mentioned by Lucasfilm at Comic-Con, this rumor is still possible. Trevorrow currently does not have any future projects lined up, and he is not committed to returning for a Jurassic World sequel, so if Disney is interested, chances are you’ll see this billion-dollar director tackle the space opera.

Disney and Lucasfilm have been very busy with planning the return of Star Wars. Just recently, Phil Lord and Chris Miller were confirmed to be directing a prequel film focusing on Han Solo, set for 2018. That film will join another spinoff Rogue One, directed by Gareth Edwards, releasing late 2016.

Star Wars: Episode IX is coming in 2019, till then, get ready for The Force Awakens, releasing December 18th.
