Kitty Pryde is Getting Her Own Standalone Film

Despite the possibility of merging with Disney, Fox appoints Tim Miller as head of the movie!

If you don’t know who Kitty Pryde is, she is among the youngest of the X-Men who has the ability to “phase” or pass through objects just by touching or walking through them. This power also allows her to disrupt electromagnetic fields and even levitate.

Among her many aliases, Kitty Pryde was best known as Shadowcat and she will finally take center stage in her own movie. Tim Miller, director of Deadpool, has been working on a Kitty Pryde solo movie for a potential directing gig. Although the project is currently owned by 20th Century Fox, Disney could complicate things if they indeed absorb Fox for a reported value of $52.4 billion.

Although Fox has started the process of making a Kitty Pryde movie, it doesn’t mean it’s a done deal. There’s a lot of projects that are announced, but never make it to the big screen. They also haven’t announced who will play Kitty Pryde. The most recent casting of her was Ellen Page, who played the role in X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past. One story that Miller could use is one that originally got Kitty Pryde’s name out there. A mini-series in the mid-80s called Kitty Pryde and Wolverine took the two heroes on a quest to Japan. It’s a six-comic series that lasted from November 1984 to April 1985. Unfortunately, Fox would have to find a new Logan for this idea due to Hugh Jackman retiring from the role after he played him in Logan.

It’ll be interesting what direction Miller decides to go with this story. He did a great job making Deadpool on a pretty small budget, so if this movie gets the same or even smaller budget, we know Miller can still put something together that will impress the fans.
