The Lion King Reimagining/Remake Gets its Screenwriter

Be prepared. For Jeff Nathanson!

The upcoming remake of Disney’s The Lion King has it’s writer. Deadline reports that veteran screenwriter Jeff Nathanson will work on the film’s script.

Nathanson is best known for writing Catch Me If You Can, the Rush Hour sequels, and Tower Heist. He also scripted the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean sequel, Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Disney announced they will be remaking The Lion King, as they have been doing with many of their classic animated films, a couple weeks back. The film will be directed by Iron Man and The Jungle Book helmer Jon Favreau.

Could writing this movie really be that hard?

Then again, Lion King is being done as a focus for a “contemporary audience,” since there’s no way kids today would enjoy the animated original, so Jeff is probably going to have a really tough time writing this one.

Sigh.

NAAAAA ZVEGNAAAAAAA!!
