[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]n the midst of Comic-Con hype season, some news from Marvel, Sony, and Paramount has really put a damper on the excitement: none of the studios will be making appearances at the convention.

This will be the second time Marvel will not be at the convention, with the first being in 2011. A reason that Marvel will not be appearing could be that the studio has released almost all of their future plans at a fan event in October. The event included news about the future of the Avengers franchise along with the release dates for Dr. Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy 2, which are November 4th, 2016 and May 5th, 2017 respectively.

Sony and Paramount have opted out of appearing because they do not have any suitable projects for the community of people that will be attending. This does not mean that Sony and Paramount will not have any geek related movies in the future, it just means that the films are too early on to announce and have a full panel of information to present.

With these three giant studios out of the convention, it turns a lot of the attention to J.J. Abrams and the cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and their panel on July 10th. Lionsgate will also be promoting the second part of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay and Warner Brothers is bound to have some news on Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice as well so expect an exciting four days of geeky goodness.

Comic-Con will be held in the San Diego Convention Center from July 8th-12th.
