[dropcap size=small]E[/dropcap]arly this week, it was reported that Christian Bale had dropped out of the role of Steve Jobs for Sony’s upcoming biopic. According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources say that after much deliberation, Bale determined he wasn’t right for the role, and decided to part ways.

Sony had been on track to begin shooting this winter for a quick turnaround, so Bale’s departure sent them scrambling to find a new actor up for the job of playing Jobs.

New reports suggest that X-men: Days of Future Past star Michael Fassbender is in early talks to take over the lead role. He is the latest Hollywood heavy hitter to be in talks for the role, following Bale and earlier candidate, Leonardo DiCaprio.

The real-life drama is based on Walter Isaacson’s biography “Steve Jobs”, and is to be directed by Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) with Aaron Sorkin (The Newsroom) writing the screenplay.

Sorkin has publicly stated that the film is to be divided into three acts, each taking place backstage at one of Jobs’ three major product announcements. Sorkin elaborates:

Famed film producer Scott Rudin is also attached to the film along with producers Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady. Seth Rogen is also reportedly to play Apple Co-founder Steve Wozniak.
