For the same monthly price as Netflix, you can watch unlimited amount of movies in theaters!

[dropcap size=small]B[/dropcap]ack in 2011, MoviePass was created with the purpose of watching unlimited amount of movies in theaters for one price per month. In 2016, they released the service with a starting price of $15 a month and $50 a month for unlimited movies in big cities. But, the public wanted less than that for a service that seems limited.

According to Bloomberg, MoviePass has dropped their price to $9.95 a month, which matches what Netflix and Hulu offer.

The reason for the price drop is because MoviePass sold a majority stake to the data firm Helios and Matheson Analytics, according to Variety. MoviePass hopes to gather enough information through their subscribers from viewing habits for advertising and marketing materials.

Former Netflix executive Mitch Lowe, who was named CEO of MoviePass last year, told Bloomberg that people love going to the movies. The reason that streaming isn’t the sole reason that people don’t go to the movie theaters, but that prices are set too high.

“After years of studying and analysis we found that people want to go to the movies more often, but the pricing keeps going up, and that prevents them from going more,” Lowe said in a statement to Variety. “We’re making it more affordable for people.”

The $9.95 monthly fee will cover tickets at any US movie theater that takes debit cards, except for IMAX and 3D screenings. So if you love the movies, this looks like the deal you’ve been waiting for!
