Playstation Plus subscription is getting a Price Increase

It’s a bold move but will it work?

[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he price for Playstation Plus subscriptions is going to be raised on September 22 according to the latest Playstation Blog update. The new price for a year of Playstation Plus will be $59.99 (up from $49.99) and for three months it will be $24.99 (up from $17.99). The one month price of $9.99 will stay the same however.

Playstation Plus allows online multiplayer access to players, discounts, and even free games to subscribers.

It is interesting to see an increase to the subscription prices since they have been the same since Playstation Plus launched in 2010. Another interesting thing to note is that the new prices will match the prices for the Xbox Live subscription, which has had the same prices for a long time now. This may be Sony, the company that owns Playstation, recognizing the market value of it’s subscription service and is just trying to increase its revenue in a way that made the most fiscal sense.

Sony has not released much information outside of the initial notice of the price change so there is still very little to go off of as to why they would make the change. This is something to watch moving forward in case Sony has anymore changes that they might announce. For now all we can do is wait and see what Sony’s next move is.

The price increase for Playstation Plus will occur on September 22.
