Rita’s looking a little less repulsive.
The upcoming Power Rangers reboot film is currently in the midst of filming, meaning a number of set leaks and photos have emerged.
Recently, we caught a glimpse of Elizabeth Banks as the villainous Rita Repulsa in full costume, and now, she’s sporting a different look entirely.
YVRshoots spotted Banks as Repulsa in a new costume confronting (and kissing?!) Naomi Scott’s Kimberly Hart (the Pink Ranger). Instead of her original green costume that looks like a cross between Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin and Poison Ivy, she now looks like John Travolta from Battlefield Earth.
Anyway, we also get a another look at her staff, which his rumored to be encasing the Dragon Coin, an object that holds the power of the Green Ranger, thus explaining her original costume. Does this mean a Tommy Oliver cameo is imminent? Well, there’s more evidence.
Also spotted on set were six props, one red, blue, black, pink, yellow, and white. Obviously, these colors coordinate with the Rangers, and these props might be connected to their yet to be revealed suits, but currently, the White Ranger is unconfirmed.
Fans of the original Mighty Morphin series know that Tommy Oliver (Jason David Frank), the original Green Ranger, eventually takes up the mantle of the White Ranger. Oliver has appeared in many reincarnations of the series over the years, so is the movie next?
We don’t know, but we’re excited to learn more about this reboot as more information is revealed.
