Red Dead Redemption V: A Massive Undertaking

The Legend That Sparked A Legendary Fan Mod

Before I lost a lot of personal gaming time due to YouTube and personal responsibilities I have played a wide variety of games over a short period of time. Red Dead Redemption happened to be one of those amazing titles that was an unforgettable part of my past. The story of John Marston was definitely foreshadowed in the title of the game itself with the word “Redemption“. John lived the life of an outlaw until his comrades left him for dead after getting shot during a failed robbery attempt. After the incident, John decided to leave his days as an outlaw behind to live the rest of his days as a law abiding citizen. However, John was forced to pick up his gun to work as a hired gun for the government in order to get back his family his new employers have taken. The story was very engaging and filled with all kinds of emotion.

The Rockstar formula was a perfect fit for this kind of adventure due to their strong focus on the theme of every game they made thus far. You feel like you are part of the an actual classic western. The horseback riding was very smooth and responsive. Riding through the detailed environments tends to catch your gaze. I remember finding myself slowing the pace of travel in order to enjoy the occasional occurrence of catchy western music in the background.

The hand to hand combat was greatly improved back when the game was first introduced due to counters, grappling, and using captured enemies as human shields. You can even turn people into road kill western style by tying someone up on railroad tracks and wait for the train to finish the job. I can go on forever about what makes this game an icon among the gaming community; but I must share some exciting news about Red Dead Redemption. The main purpose for sharing my thoughts about this game was to give you an idea as to why people are passionate enough to work on such a huge project that was going on well before the announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2.

An Incredible Modding Feat:
Red Dead Redemption V Story Mode

In case you don’t know what modding is I want share with you what a mod is in simple terms. A mod is an altered version of a previously made game. You have to be a pretty skilled programmer to manipulate the code of a game in order make specific changes that is not found in the original version.

The name of the team that is responsible for this crazy project is known as .White Team. .White is using Grand Theft Auto V to recreate Red Dead Redemption. I don’t know a ton about modding, but I can tell a project such as this is no small task. Art support editor, Jestic, stated that this project took about 2 years to complete. To be honest, I would have thought that a project of this magnitude would take more time to prepare a beta. GTA V displayed some pretty impressive visuals when it dropped on the PS3 and Xbox 360; so it would be interesting to see how much more impressive the visuals will shine.

.Whites’ goal for this project was to enhance the graphical aspect of Red Dead Redemption by using the framework of GTA V while doing their best to maintain the original elements of Red Dead Redemption. For instance, it was stated that the team would love to find more scripters who can remake mini games and the Dead Eye Targeting mechanic for this gaming mod. This mod is strictly a story mode modification; therefore the team has announced that they will not condone this mod to be used in the GTA Online feature. You can’t blame .White for stating how critical it is to follow the previously described rule; because the mod could become a serious legal issue that Rockstar cannot ignore if things go too far.

A teaser trailer of the Red Dead Redemption V Beta will be released sometime during the summer of this year. If you would like to learn more about this incredible project; then please do yourself a favor and click on the link: Red Dead Redemption. .White seems more than happy to expand their team for their projects. I would encourage any skillful modders who finds this project interesting to have an audience with .White. I would like to thank you, the reader, for taking some time out of your day to read this article. Have a blessed day.
