Solitaire on Windows 10 Requires Subscription Fee to Remove Ads

No word yet if Space Cadet Pinball will require a fee as well.

Chances are if you ever used a computer running on Windows, you know all about the free games included with it. Minesweeper, FreeCell, and Checkers have been staples of Windows for years, but perhaps there is none more popular than Solitaire.

Solitaire, the ultimate workplace time sink, returns for the latest Microsoft operating system, Windows 10, however, this time for a price. If you want to play the game, and avoid pesky video advertisements, it will cost $10. Sigh…

Microsoft Solitaire Collection comes pre-installed in the OS, and includes new features like different variations of the game, achievements, and daily challenges. However, between game matches, you’ll be treated to a wonderful full-screen advertisement for 30 seconds.

If you want to rid yourself of these ads though, it’s going to cost $10 a year, or $1.50 a month. The ads will be gone, and you’ll receive more coins that can be used for the daily challenges. Pretty cool, right! Right? Sigh…

While never the biggest Solitaire fan myself, this is still rather outrageous, and I’m sure outcries from Windows 10 users will fix the problem. If Microsoft were to puts ads into Space Cadet Pinball or Chip’s Challenge though, I would riot.
