HYPE. OVERLOAD.

During the E3 2018 Nintendo Direct, Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo Switch was finally revealed, and it’s unreal. Check out the in-depth overview from series creator Masahiro Sakurai.

The game is called Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and it will feature every single playable character from the entire series.

That’s right! Snake and Wolf from Brawl? BACK. Pokemon Trainer with Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard? BACK. Pichu and Young Link from Melee? BACK.

My beloved Ice Climbers? OHHH YEAH, Nana and Popo are BACK!

I’M SO HAPPY FOR THEM

In addition to the crazy roster, the game will feature a number of character tweaks and changes. For example, Link is based on his Breath of the Wild appearance, Zelda is based on her look from A Link Between Worlds, and Ganondorf is once again based off his Ocarina of Time character, AND he uses swords in his smash attacks!

As for new characters, Sakurai stressed fans not to expect a number of brand new fighters because of Ultimate’s crazy size already, but the Inklings from Splatoon, and Daisy from Super Mario (as a Peach clone “echo character”) are confirmed to join.

AND Ridley! A literally larger than life meme has finally made the roster.

There’s plenty more to be revealed as E3 continues, but we’re beyond hyped for what we’ve seen so far to say the least.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate releases for the Nintendo Switch on December 7.
