Transformers 4: $302M Opening Weekend

Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction pulled in a whopping $302m in its opening weekend. While we can all agree the quality of the Transformers series has gone downhill, this guy knows how to print money. Here’s some numbers that may not mean anything to you:

Males 64%
25 years and older 58%
18 years and younger 27%
Bros who like explosions and robots 99%

Those, my friends, are real numbers. Well, maybe not the last one, but that seems correct.

Optimus Prime, bro.

Transformers 4 raked in $100m in American alone, dethroning Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s $95m. Sorry Cap. Other sad box office results from this weekend (June 27-29, 2014) include:

#2 – 22 Jump Street – $15.4m
#3 – How to Train Your Dragon 2 – $13.1m
#4 – Think Like a Man Too – $10.4m
#5 – Maleficent – $8.2m

Nothing came close, and likely nothing will come close at least for a little while. I have a feeling that Transformers: Age of Explosions to be #1 in the box office for at least a couple weeks yet to come.

Based on the Transformers toys from Hasbro and directed by Michael Bay, Transformers: Age of Extinction stars Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, and Optimus Prime. The film was released June 27, 2014 to US audiences.
