We have a super-powered boy, some gods from Egypt, and some street magicians this week at the Trailer Park.

Midnight Special

Midnight Special follows Roy (Michael Shannon) , a father desperate to keep is unique, super-powered, 8 year old son Alton. Roy is joined by Joel Edgerton and Kirsten Dunst’s characters and must travel the country to get Alton to a secret location where he will be safe. Sounds easy enough right?

Wrong. The group is being closely followed by an extreme religious sect led by Sam Shepard and a government task force that has Adam Driver at the helm. The outcome of the chase will effect the entire world.

Director Jeff Nichols described Midnight Special as a “sci-fi chase film”. He stated, “However absurd that sounds, it’s more grounded than Mud (another of Nichols films). I really wanted to make a 1980s John Carpenter film like Starman. I love the way those films look.”

Midnight Special stars Michael Shannon, Joel Edgerton, Kirsten Dunst, Adam Driver, and Sam Shepard and hit theaters March 18th, 2016.

Gods of Egypt

Gods of Egypt is a movie about, well uh gods in Egypt. But it is much more complicated then that! There are action scenes too!

Horus, the god of the sky, ruled over Egypt and it was a wonderful and prosperous time all across the land. But then the god of darkness, Set, came in and sort of messed it all up plunging, the people into a world of chaos, conflict, slavery, and made it an all-around bad time. A young thief named Bek must enlist the help of a defeated Horus to help him over throw Set to save his love. And save the world but we all know the girl comes first.

Many are critical of the film due to the fact that much of the cast is caucasian and the film takes place in Egypt where no one is really caucasian. But there is plenty of action to help take your mind off that.

Gods of Egypt stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Brenton Thwaites, Gerard Butler, and Geoffrey Rush and takes over theaters February 26, 2016.

Now You See Me: The Second Act

The Four Horsemen are back for another ride. Taking place after the events of the first film, Now You See Me: The Second Act follows Danny, Merrit, Jack, and Lula one year after they outwitted the FBI and won the public’s adulation with their Robin Hood-style magic spectacles. Now they are back again to try and expose the unethical practices of a tech magnate, which is headed by Walter Tressler (Daniel Radcliffe). Walter threatens the Horsemen into pulling off their riskiest stunt yet, which they agree to because they hope it will clear their names and reveal the mastermind behind the plot.

Now You See Me: The Second Act stars Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Lizzy Caplan, Dave Franco, Daniel Radcliffe, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine and appears in theater on June 10th, 2016
