Is this the beginning of something beautiful?

[dropcap size=small]X[/dropcap]box boss, Phil Spencer, recently praised the cooperation between Microsoft and Nintendo after they had agreed on a partnership. With an upcoming Super Mario Bros-themed DLC for Minecraft on the Wii U, Nintendo and Microsoft are expecting a successful partnership.

After Microsoft had purchased Minecraft and Mojang back in 2014, many had wondered if they would convert Minecraft into an Xbox exclusive and if it would not continue to support it on non-Xbox consoles. This has not been the case since there have been multiple updates and planned DLCs for all versions of Minecraft across all console systems.

The partnership has many people hopeful that it could lead to other Microsoft-owned properties coming to Nintendo systems. One of the games that people had pointed out was Rare Replay, even the official Microsoft twitter account had told people to ask Rare if it would be coming to Wii U. Even though Rare had squashed the rumors, it is a step in the right direction. Cooperation between console companies can open the doors for all sorts possibilities. Legend of Zelda and Pokémon on Xbox and Playstation? Gears of War and Halo on Playstation and Wii U? While this may never happen, the Microsoft and Nintendo partnership make it seem like these possibilities may not seem as impossible as they used to.

The Super Mario Bros. DLC theme for Wii U will be released on May 17 and it will be free. The DLC will include 15 songs from Super Mario 64 and over 40 themed skins including Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Bowser, Goombas, and many more. The DLC will also be bundled in the physical copy of Minecraft starting in June.
