Everybody’s favorite Russian is back for the newest installment of Street Fighter, along with a brand new fighter.
[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]lthough the release of Street Fighter V is set for 2016, announcements on characters are still rolling out fairly frequently. Fan-favorite wrestler Zangief, who first appeared in Street Fighter 2, was announced to be making a return. Zangief will keep his signature grappling moves but like all other character in the game, gains a V-Skill and V-Trigger move. His V-Skill move, Iron Muscle, lets Zangief absorb an opponents and attack and regain health from it. His V-Trigger, Cyclone Lariat, causes Zangief to spin and pull his opponent in and deliver multiple hits.
The most recent fighter to be revealed is Laura, a Brazilian who uses electrifying jiu-jitsu to defeat her opponents. She uses a combination of quick attacks on her opponents that can then be chained into throws. Her Critical Art super move is the rolling attack seen in the trailer below.
Fourteen characters have been revealed so far for the game but sixteen fighters have been confirmed to be available for launch. The Street Fighter V beta launches on October 22nd, so we will get to see a lot more gameplay then and hopefully a character announcement in the near future.
Street Fighter V is set for release in 2016 for PS4 and PC.
